The Sleeping Goddess

Legend tells us that many years ago the Great Uintah Basin, known also as Pine Land, was inhabited by a group of Native Americans. Among this group of Natives was a beautiful young Goddess and a handsome young man whose devotion to each other was admired by all the neighboring tribes. They had met in Dry Fork Canyon, but the young man left to fight world-wide battles before they could marry. It is said that this beautiful young Goddess, keeping Herself busy while waiting for the young man's return, eventually grew tired and laid down to rest. So there She sleeps, still today, waiting for news of world peace, and the return of her lover . . .
