Duchesne County Fair Talent Show never changes

I am writing because of my dissappointment in the Duchesne County Fair Talent show, I lived in Duchesne County in the late 80's for about five years, I tryed to be involved in the rural counties activities, but quickly learned that all your skill depends upon your last name. When visiting Duchesne over fair days I watched many of the events and one included the talent show that was held under the tent on the fair grounds, I couldnt believe how unorganized this was, there were no steps to the stage the performers had to step onto a metal chair to access which seemed very unsafe especially for the little kids, more than one performer stood on stage waiting for long periods of time for there music which often would start playing someone elses. Come on Duchesne how hard is it to play a CD?

The announcer/coordinator also asked the adults to tell the audience there age, what difference does it make how old you are, all that the judges needed to know is the division you were competing in, am I right?

Myself and others were amazed at the astonishment that poor lady felt to tell her age.

As for the judges....doesnt say much for the County queens to not remember how they judged an act like the mother/daughter duet that was judged with the kids or so they thought but couldn't remember, how awful to be that cute litttle girls mother, she stood on that stage with so much pride in herself and her daughter, and brought tears to most of the audiences eyes with that beautiful song than was shot down by no catagory for duets..maybe she should have specified her age than she could have been judge right????

The winners were not hard to pick out before the announcement, being they sat at the table with the judges. What a joke!

To all the performers you were all great, might want to compete somewhere your judged for your skill and hard work instead of your last name, Or who you know.
