"Everyday Activist Training" Saturday, January 16th
As the Beatles song goes, “We all want to change the world” but not many of us know how to go about doing it.
On Saturday, January 16th, Morgan Philpot and Holly Richardson will offer a free two hour seminar to anyone interested in learning how to become an “everyday activist.”
Training will start promptly at 3pm in the Commission Chambers of the State and County Building located at 147 E. Main Street in Vernal.
Activism does not require one to be radical or over-the-top politically; activism is just a simple word for getting out of your house and being a participant in the process instead of an observer of it.
Attendees can expect to leave with concrete ideas of what they can do NOW to restore all-American values of responsibility and accountability to their neighborhoods, towns, county, state and nation.
Philpot, who is considering a run against Jim Matheson in 2010, is currently the Vice-Chair of the Utah Republican party. He is a former State Representative from Salt Lake County and an attorney. He lives in American Fork with his wife and five children. He will be announcing his decision by the end of January.
Holly Richardson – aka – “Holly on the Hill” is a conservative blogger and chair of the state GOP Web Communications committee. Philpot and Richardson will teach guests the What? Why? and How? of political activism in Utah including the use of social media and basic concepts of grassroots organization.
“Social media is a powerful tool in any political tool kit,” Philpot stated recently. Social media includes avenues such as email, blogs, social sites on the internet such as Face book and My Space, it also includes instant messaging, texting, and use of sites like Twitter to get one’s message out to a substantial population with minimal expenditure.
“This form of media made the difference in my own race as vice-chair and it will play an important role in the 2010 election cycle,” explained Philpot.
Although this training is sponsored by the Uintah County Republican party, it is applicable to those of all political leanings. We welcome all citizens interested in attending with the hopes that citizens of the Uintah Basin will leave feeling equipped with new ideas and inspiration to get involved in making this country better for future generations

PLEASE tell me that this will include responsible dog ownership!
Sounds like this was something very interesting that I should have attended... I am getting the name of "RADICAL" here on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation according to the Ute Tribe Business Committee. Honesty is the KEY! :)
